Equinox

I thought the autumnal equinox was today, the 22nd, but I just Wiki'd it and it turns out that this year, it's 09/23. So I'm a little premature in wishing everyone a happy fall!

I wish fall wasn't succeeded by winter, because it's such a pretty season; I love the brisk morning walk through the changing leaves. Coffee seems to taste better in the fall, especially when paired with the spiced baked goods that have emerged from hibernation. Yummm, pumpkin bread... Unfortunately, fall is followed by winter, and the anticipation of the dreary freezing darkness tinges fall's beauty a little bit.

BUT. This year, I won't have to be walking many miles in that dreary freezing darkness to do things like run errands and buy groceries. Why? Because I GOT A CAR! A beige '07 CRV, which my parents are helping me lease through the end of medical school, when I'll be able to finance a car on my own (well... not really, but...). It's my first car, and it was quite an adventure, getting everything set up and doing everything I needed to do. But it got done, and now I find myself itching to drive somewhere adventurous rather than sit and learn about the heart. Fortunately for me, the heart is a fascinating thing, and I'm able to shake that urge most of the time....

Now I'm off to take a friend to get her new car, and then to the Strip District for some break-fast shopping.

Happy fall!
