Friday Night Lethargy

I personally find that, by Friday evening, I'm exhausted, with an impossibly long to-do list of chores and errands that have piled upon each other during the week. This week's list: read my snail mail, re-read the important emails I skimmed over, reply to above, clip fingernails, do laundry, hand-wash the "hand wash only" laundry (oh, the bane of the business casual lifestyle), vacuum, clean the gunk out of the drawer in the fridge, throw out moldy or expired food, post a blog, etc. Now, I could leave all of this for Saturday morning. But I would rather chip away at it on Friday evening a bit, then settle into a relaxing evening of home-cooked dinner and perhaps a movie or DVD, followed by dessert. Then, on Saturday, I can have a productive day followed by a well-deserved night out, unburdened by the subconscious knowledge of things undone which need doing.

One of the things I've learned, really fast, is that medical students are SHEEP; they will do just about anything, so long as they believe the rest of their class is doing it. My med school class is exceedingly addicted to spending time with itself. Furthermore, playing drinking games appears to be a popular social activity among my classmates. Tonight, there is YET ANOTHER social event in the trendy med-student-infested neighborhood of Shadyside. There will inevitably be drinking and drunken conversation. I, quite frankly, want to get workin' on that to-do list. Now, I'm like, the person least susceptible to peer pressure, but here I am: ewe is me. After I finish this post, I'm going to make some dinner, tidy up a bit, then take a mini-nap in order to be refreshed for a night of imbibement and silly obnoxious behavior.

Wish me luck. Baaaa.
