It's Official!

I'm going to Machu Picchu after I sit for the USMLE Step 1 (more affectionately known as "The Boards")!!!! I'm super stoked, in small part because this trip will make a significant impact on my progress on my lifetime "To Do" list: visit one of the Seven Wonders. Four of my classmates and I are taking the exam 2 weeks early and taking off for a 10-day adventure. After a few days sight-seeing and acclimatizing to the altitude, we'll go on a fairly rigorous 4-day hike up to the ruins. We're all extremely outdoorsy and adventurous types, so we've opted to carry our own packs rather than hire porters. It's going to be pretty freakin awesome. I'm super excited, y'all!

I'm hoping it gives me the motivation I will most definitely absolutely need to study for the 8 weeks prior to the boards. And the motivation to get into hike-and-camp-for-days fitness.

Yayyyyy!

I must give due credit to Lid, cousin of all cousins, who took the trek in the summer(, almost died of altitude sickness,) and inspired me to no end. Thanks, Lid!
