Extreme Extremity Apathy
Today was my last day of anatomy; tomorrow is my last practical exam, followed by the course final exam on Monday. Anatomy has been an intense experience characterized predominantly by the following:
- The solidification of the cliques in med school.
- Coffee and quick meals.
- The use of multi-colored pens and flash cards
- Rote memorization void of any real reasoning or problem solving skills.
- The odor of formaldehyde on my clothes, hair, in my nose (and, thereby, everywhere).
- The effect of formaldehyde on my sinuses, eyes, nose, throat, lungs.
- Fun.
The thing is, we're ending our Anatomy block with extremities, which I find dull, in contrast to the heart and cranial nerves, which were très intéressant. I mean, I appreciate the muscles in my body that allow me to walk and lift and all that schnazzy jazz, but it's just not the same as the things that let me drool and cry and wink and pump blood and breath and... you get the point. So I've reached a saturation point of sorts, and I've been spitting little crystals of I-couldn't-care-less here and there. Hopefully I can force myself through the weekend, and Monday morning, and it will all be done.
Then onto Physiology. Woot!
Things to look forward to:
-Philly (I'm coming to visit!)
-Petey B's visit to Pitt
-Thanksgiving
