Hello from Kesennuma, Japan! I:m currently at my grandma:s house. I spent many a summer here as a little kid. I:m suffering from that wow-was-everytyhing-this-small? feeling that you get when, as a grown person, you visit a place you remember from a child:s perspective.
Japanese keyboards are sorta weird and dont have a proper apostrophe. There:s this thing --> ` <-- but it:s called a :ten: and is backwards and hard to type because it requires moving my fingers to weird places they:re not used to going on a keyboard. The key that usually types an apostrophe instead types a colon : so that:s why there are colons wherever there should be apostrophes. Forgive me.
So far I:ve done more sightseeing than anyone should ever do in a week. I had the good fortune of going to Tokyo Disney Sea, which is a sea-themed Disney park that has fewer kiddie rides and more pretty scenery and walkways-- it:s pretty much built for us old folk who can no longer stomach the twisty turnies and long lines of screaming children and hoochiemama teenagers. If you don:t know what I mean, feel free to visit Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, CA, and you will soon see my point exactly.
Since I:ve finally been reuinited with my laptop (we sent it ahead to my G-ma:s when we arrived at Narita) and access to the internet, I:ll hopefully be setting up a little workspace stationg where I can upload all of my pictures and post the funtastickest ones on the net.
Gotta run, there:s tons to do. Oh but before I go, I:ll give you a five best/worst obout Japan:
Best--
1. clean clean clean streets buildings subways
2. the efficiency and reliability of public transportation
3. the CLOTHES ARE SO FREAKIN CUTE
4. the safety of even the busiest of cities
5. THE FOOD
Worst--
1. strangely, despite the `clean clean clean` mentioned above, the bathrooms all smell like piss
2. on a related nite, the bathrooms are not equipped with paper towels bc you are expected to carry handkerchiefs/small towels with you wherever you go, which kinda get damp and gross in your purse
3. everything that is CUTE CUTE is also EXPENSIVE EXPENSIVE!
4. everyone is extremely superficial
5. THERE ARE MOSQUITOS AND CATS EVERYWHERE!!!
Ok, more to come. I:m officially bored with not much to do, so feel free to comment or email!
I MISS EVERYONE!
