I'm blogging from my new bedroom in Squirrel Hill, Pittsburgh! It's a pretty huge room in a pretty amazing apartment. My walls are pale yellow, which I love. And I've got pseudo-pets! --My roommate's husband brings his dog & cat when he visits on weekends. They're adorable and very allergenic, which I'll have to do something about. Otherwise, I'm pretty much settled in, and I love my apartment and the neighborhood it's in. I'm completely smitten by the quaintness of Squirrel Hill: the canopy of green, the flowers in the front yards, the friendly neighbors and pets, the local strip of shops & restaurants...
Moving was a stress, but it went just about as smoothly as moving could possibly go. Of course, that's not without huge thanks to the twins & James, Steve, and especially my mom and Eric. My mom, the amazing packer. Eric, the amazing lifter-carrier-positive energy giver-superfast driver of UHauls, love of my life.
I think I can sum up all of my experiences in Pittsburgh in two words: Pleasant Surprise. The med school and hospitals, the cleanliness of the streets, the charm of the city, the low cost of living, the friendly people, the diverse neighborhoods, the food. I almost feel more at home here than I have anywhere else. I'm really excited about what lies ahead. But between now and then is: summer break. First up, a haircut, and hopefully Big Sur. Stay tuned, folks!

If you like Pittsburg for those reasons, you should visit Tacoma/Seattle.
